Opportunties for Adult Study at Raymond Village Community Church

We are all seekers here at the Raymond Village Community Church, and so we offer regular opportunities for Adult Study. In a variety of small groups formed throughout the year, we offer folks a chance to learn more about their Christian heritage, study the Bible, and read other material to deepen and enrich faith. All people - members and just friends alike - interested in exploring their faith are welcome to attend any Adult Study group. We're friendly folk here, so come and join the discussion. All opinions and views are respected and welcome!

2008 Summer Bible Study
The summer Bible study will be a series by Bruce Metzger called “Breaking the Code – Understanding the Book of Revelation”. The class is planned to start Thursday, June 19th and be held every 2 weeks at 7PM. If you are interested in this class, please contact the church office at 655-7749 or email us at office@rvccme.org.

Here are a couple of the Adult Study opportunities we have offered recently:

1.Bible Studies on Genesis/Exodus and Luke/Acts – an in depth study structured for daily Bible reading and individual study as well as a weekly meeting which included a brief video presentation and guided questions for discussion. Our trained lay leader gave group members a rich historical background and often linked the lessons to contemporary ideas and circumstances, generating for participants an ongoing opportunity to learn more about their faith and each other.

2.The Passion of Jesus – a lay led Lenten discussion group focusing on the last week of Jesus’ life as told by the Gospel writer, John. This group provided an opportunity for personal sharing of faith stories and experiences and a time for prayer.

3. Mysteries of Faith: The Prophets – a clergy led group uniting five area United Church of Christ congregations. This Lenten study group looked at a series of articles on prophets of the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Koran as well as the role of prophecy in American religious history.

In addition, we invited you to take a look at the RVCC Book Blog. This is an easy way to keep in touch with others in our church community (wherever you and they are) and to talk about that great book you're reading. Signing up and commenting are both easy to do. Check it out!

Summer Sunday Children's Program at Raymond Village Community Church

Families are encouraged to come to worship even during the summer! Though Sunday School is over until Rally Day in September, in the summer months, children can participate in the Summer Sunday Children’s Program.

Children meet with a teacher every Sunday during the worship service for lessons and activities in a Vacation Bible School format. The casual summer program has a distinctive theme, such as the Circle G (for God) Ranch, and age appropriate activities including singing, dancing, arts and crafts, and Bible stories.

2008 Summer Sunday Children's Program
The Summer Sunday Children’s Program is a favorite of the kids at RVCC!

Kids Hey Kids! Are you ready to soar to new heights? Come join us this summer for fun and learning as we explore how God can lift you up. There will be games, snacks, crafts, stories and explorations of flight. This program is offered to all children who will be entering grades 1 through 6. Meet us at the Control Tower on these Sundays… July 13, 20 and 27 and August 3, 10 and 17. If you have any questions please call this Sky Crew Captain - Brenda Olsen at 655-4670.

Our Nursery And Primary Program At Raymond Village Community Church

Christian Education begins with our littlest children at RVCC in our warm and caring nursery and primary classroom. Infants are cuddled and rocked and cared for by adults and experienced high school babysitters. Parents are always invited to stay if they so choose.

Through a combination of play time, snack, and circle time, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners begin to learn about Biblical stories, how to pray, and who God is. The gentle and age appropriate curriculum has introduced the Christian faith to youngsters at RVCC for decades!

Shalom Club At Raymond Village Community Church

Shalom Club is an innovative extracurricular program for 5th and 6th graders. The Club meets after church on the last Sunday of each month. It provides an opportunity for young people to get together for lunch and to both plan and execute a variety of service projects.

WHAT SHALOM CLUB IS NOT:
Shalom Club is NOT Sunday School
Shalom Club is NOT Bible Study
Shalom Club is NOT sitting around listening to someone else talk

WHAT SHALOM CLUB IS:
Shalom Club IS a chance to put faith into action
Shalom Club IS an opportunity to do service projects together
Shalom Club IS a time to make the world better place
Shalom Club IS a time to eat pizza and be with friends

Shalom Club youth are invited to bring a friend or two to any meeting. After all, the more the merrier!
