Stewardship at Raymond Village Community Church

We strive to ensure that “Stewardship” goes far beyond simply having the money to pay the bills. In a broader sense, the role of the stewardship ministry is to define and provide opportunities for the congregation to give and to share with the church, its members, and the greater community.

Because we believe that God calls us to be good stewards, or caretakers, of all aspects of life and creation, we strive to be a church that encourages men, women, and children to use their time and talents wisely to make our church and our world better places.

In addition to an annual pledge campaign, several important initiatives that raise money as well as strengthen the church’s fellowship and community are:
  • Calendar Dinner – This is one of our most anticipated annual events. Those who attend choose a dinner table that is decorated for a particular month, season, or holiday and enjoy a full turkey dinner with all the fixins’ – and often dress in the theme of their assigned table. After dinner entertainment has included professional story tellers and folk singers as well as congregational talent and fashion shows.

  • Pot Roast Suppers – We put on at least four public suppers during the summer and fall, with each one serving meals to 150-200 people. People come from far and wide and have been known to plan their vacation to coincide with a supper! Both sit down and take out meals are available and include a full dinner including brownies a la mode with chocolate sauce for dessert.

  • Community Flea Market – “One person’s trash is another one’s treasure.” This annual summer event gives local vendors a chance to sell their wares as well as church members to clean out their closets. A silent auction and lunch items round out the fun-filled day of bargain-hunting.

  • Old Fashioned Christmas Fair – Church folk work all year on handcrafts such as a variety of knitted items, fired pottery, and Christmas crafts to sell for the church at the fair. In addition, someone frequently donates a hand knitted afghan or bedspread for a raffle. Maple syrup, baked goods, and a hot lunch are available, and the Youth Group runs a Children’s Room. Fairly traded coffee and SERVV handcrafts are also sold as a mission initiative.
